Athena Coding LLC uses limited first-party analytics to understand how this website is used and to improve inquiries from families, schools, community partners, and prospective workers.

Information collected through first-party analytics

The site assigns random anonymous visitor and session identifiers using the first-party cookies named athena_vid and athena_sid. Analytics records can include the date and time, page path, landing page, referring website hostname, UTM source, medium, campaign, term, and content, whether the visitor is new or returning, general device category, general browser family, and actions such as page views, program-page views, contact-form starts and successful submissions, email clicks, telephone clicks, partnership calls to action, and job or application clicks.

Athena's analytics database does not store full IP addresses, IP-derived locations, complete user-agent strings, contact-form fields, health information, information about children, or the email address or telephone number contained in a clicked link. The hosting infrastructure may process ordinary network information transiently to deliver and secure the site, but Athena does not retain full IP addresses in its analytics records.

Contact-form information and attribution

The contact form is for adults aged 18 or older. When an adult submits it, Athena stores the voluntarily provided name, email address, optional telephone number, contact type, interest, and message in a contact-submission record. That record also receives the anonymous visitor ID, session ID, original landing page, current page, referring hostname, UTM parameters, first-visit time, and submission time. This links the previously anonymous attribution to the adult who chose to contact Athena.

Names, email addresses, telephone numbers, and message contents are not copied into the anonymous analytics tables and are never sent to an outside analytics service. Athena may use operational email-delivery providers, currently including Resend, a configured contact webhook, or FormSubmit as a delivery fallback, to notify Athena about a submitted inquiry. These services process contact information only to deliver the inquiry, not for Athena's visitor analytics.

The jobs page embeds a Google Form. Information submitted in that application is processed by Google and Athena for hiring purposes. Athena's first-party analytics records only the job or application click and never receives the Google Form contents as an analytics event.

Purposes

Athena uses this information to operate and secure the website, count visitors, sessions, and page views, understand which pages and outreach campaigns lead to inquiries, measure contact and partnership interest, respond to messages, and improve programs and website content.

Cookies and retention

The anonymous visitor cookie lasts for up to 13 months. The session cookie expires after about 30 minutes of inactivity and is refreshed during an active visit. Both cookies are first-party, random identifiers. Athena does not use nonessential third-party analytics cookies. The embedded Google application form may use cookies required by Google to operate that form.

Anonymous analytics events and sessions are retained for up to 25 months. Inactive anonymous visitor records are removed after 25 months. Contact submissions are retained for up to 36 months, unless a longer period is reasonably needed for an active business relationship, a legal obligation, or a dispute. Retention cleanup runs through Athena's server-side storage process.

Children and sensitive information

Athena provides programs for children, but this website does not knowingly collect information directly from children. Children should not use the contact form. Adults should avoid including a child's personal details, health information, or other sensitive information in a message.

Access and deletion requests

To ask what contact information Athena holds about you, correct it, or request deletion, email david@athenacoding.com. Athena may need to verify the email address connected to a contact submission before acting. Anonymous analytics generally cannot be identified by name until an adult has submitted the contact form. A request can include the approximate visit date, pages visited, and browser or device category to help locate relevant records.
