Course description

What students make and do

Students investigate chemical reactions, sound, motion, polymers, and surface tension through practical experiments. Each class centers on a question and a project students can test, discuss, and often take home. Activities are selected for the age group and the available classroom space.

  • Create a working lava lamp
  • Engineer a catapult or rubber-band-powered race car
  • Write with invisible ink and build a simple harmonica
  • Make fake snow and investigate surface tension
  • Construct and erupt a papier-mâché volcano

How we adapt it

Adapted for age, experience, and schedule.

Younger students focus on observation, prediction, and carefully guided construction; older students can explain density, reactions, and energy in greater depth. Beginners follow modeled procedures, while experienced groups can vary designs and compare outcomes. Short formats select a few complete experiments; longer programs connect a broader sequence of scientific ideas and take-home builds.
